Norseman triathlon – Sat Aug 8, 2009

In Norseman triathlon, Simon Ward of TTC (January 22, 2009 5:43 pm)

“Enjoy life. Treat it as an adventure. Care passionately about the outcome, but keep it in perspective. Things are seldom as bleak as they seem when they are going wrong – or as good as they seem when they are going well. Lighten up. You’ll live longer”

Fiona and I have had our entry accepted for the Norseman Iron distance triathlon in 2009 (www.nxtri.com). If you don’t know already this is one of the most extreme 140.6 races in the world (may be Embrun compares with it for toughness). There is no Hawaii qualification and only 200 can enter (this year it filled up in less than 1 hour)

The swim is in a cold fjord, there’s approx 2500-3000m of ascent on the bike and approx 1500m ascent to the finish on the mountain top (Gaustatoppen).

Its going to be our biggest 140.6 challenge yet and after a couple of years off from racing we are really motivated for this one. In the next few months we’ll be posting some thoughts about the race as well as our training in preparation for the big day.

Please post your comments as well as any messages of support as I’m sure that we will need them on the journey to the “top of the world”
