The jog down to the beach wasn’t as bad as I thought. In fact it was quite pleasant. I got there a few minutes before Dion and had a chance to have a quick look round. There were plenty of people around (as usual on the Monday morning before the race) but not quite as many as I had expected.

We swam for about 45 minutes which got us about ½ way along the course and then a bit of fartlek type work on the way back. Was Dion taking it easy for me or was I going well? Either way I stayed on his feet all the way back in.

Things started to look a bit dicey when a couple of guys (probably Germans) went past & I knew Dion wouldn’t be able to resist the opportunity. I slapped him on the feet to slow down which fortunately he did.

After the swim we had a quick chat with a few people on the pier. Scott Neyedli was looking very bright in his Dresdner Kleinwort lime green tri suit (same team as Stadler) and Norman walked past followed by his entourage. He looked very lean!!

Caught up with Leanda Cave at the coffee shop and she seems really up for the race. She hasn’t raced as much in 2008 and feels much better prepared for the race this year. Let’s hope so. Could we have 3 Brit women on the podium?

Too funny! Looking forward to exotic tri suit and similar photos. Good luck to all the Brits.
