NEW Yoga and Sport Workshop - Sunday 7th March 2010

Venue: The Yoga Space, 378 Meanwood Road, Leeds, LS7 2JF

Cost: £45 (£40 concessions)

Ability: All welcome - including those new to yoga



Many yoga students are also sportspeople, many sportspeople have thought about taking up yoga.

Jack Maitland raced internationally as an orienteer, hill-runner and triathlete. He regularly practises yoga alongside his other training. Now he is a full-time triathlon coach whose athletes include Olympians and world champions

He also coaches people who just want to be the best that they can be; while maintaining a balance with their family, their work and their health. Jack is now also a yoga teacher and is helping his athletes use yoga to complement their training.

Using Jack's knowledge as a coach, this workshop will not only teach you how yoga can be helpful but also explain why. You will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of the interaction between your yoga and your sport and know how to maximise your enjoyment of them both.

ITINERARY

  • 1230-1245 - Introduction - Jack's background and how he came to yoga
  • 1245-1415 - Yoga and Sport - Part 1
  • 1415-1430 - Break
  • 1430-1600 - Yoga and Sport - Part 2
  • 1600-1615 - Break
  • 1615-1745 - Astanga yoga talk through, incorporating some of the techniques and methods learned
  • 1745-1800 - Conclusion
